Public Broadcasting: Shield Against Fascism

Our US President axed Public Broadcasting from his budget. This is a grave concern for those of us hoping to maintain a free press and sustain/restore a free country. Already the US is an autocracy as well as corporatacracy - not a democracy. US inequality is the greatest of the wealthiest countries. How can people comprehend this if they don't understand how propaganda pervades a culture? This is one of many things PBS teaches.
In what is supposed to be a government of checks and balances, the media (the Fourth Estate) is supposed to provide various points of view. The less it does this, the greater the likelihood of decreasing freedoms.
Public Broadcasting is one of the last bastions of culture in a media environment otherwise saturated with messages to buy, use pharmaceuticals, look good, and live a perfect superficial life at the expense of deep thought, critical reflection, art, theatre, science.
There's an essay: What will our culture leave behind: precious relics or old tires and discarded plastic.
It is up to us to contact and urge our political representatives to restore public broadcasting funding.
