Archbishop Desmond Tutu

The Dalai Lama and Archbishop Tutu both represent compassion. Archbishop Tutu led the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (a compassionate approach to justice unlike ours) and the Dalai Lama is the embodiment of compassion (in Buddhist tradition). They exude this energy, even if you haven't experienced them up close. There is an excellent Scorsese film about the Dalai Lama: Kundun. When life gets too difficult, I think about his escape from Tibet at 23 years old and listen to the exalted final track "Escape to India." Escape to India
(If you're unfamiliar with Tibetan sounds, skip ahead a bit to hear the tune.)
