Selective Perception: We Believe What We Want

Today's chaos in the Capitol was predictable: as I mentioned in my Jan 4th post. But not even the significant words/facts of Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell (staunch Republicans who have supported Trump yet concede Biden's win) will convince Trump enthusiasts. Why? you may ask, especially if you're from another country. The United States is in the midst of a severe class as well as race war. (See the links in my last post.) These are not rich people: wages here have stagnated for over 40 years. They see Biden/Harris as privileged coastal democratic elites. And the majority of our militia groups are white nationalists. Combined, the insurgents and Trump supporters represent nearly half of the U.S. electorate.
