While Millions Believe In Trump's Return

The Lyft driver turned to me and said, “There won’t be anymore electric cars when Trump is back in office.” His leaps of logic shocked me as much as the matter-of-factness of his statement. Visions of a wasteland of abandoned newly built charging stations competed with “tourists” breaking into the Capitol. “You don’t think he’ll win?” he asked. “The economy will be better.” This ride was two weeks ago, but it still troubles me. I’ve written here before about how solar energy went out when Reagan’s City on a Hill dazzled the public. It has been a roller coaster ride between oil magnates and green administrations. I recently moved from a city where long after the election, maga signs still covered lawns, and these were not the wealthy recipients of his large tax breaks. But because extremely knowlegable and hard-working Biden has encountered obstacles beyond anyone’s control, people blame him. And the media, supposedly our fourth estate, is not helping. Many of us have reason to feel great concern about this country.
