When President Reagan called Israeli PM Menachem Begin in 1982 to warn him over shelling Beirut, the bombing stopped. Although at present, Israel is finally considering negotiation, it also wants to move all the refugees in Rafah to continue its attempts to eradicate Hamas. This is absurd. Too many lives have been destroyed in this unwinnable war. With Netanyahu beholden to the right wing collation that swung his 2022 election, Israeli citizens blame their government's complacency for allowing the Hamas' attack that catalyzed this war. How can there be a just solution, especially a 2-state solution, without a strong Palestinian leader, or at least a strong US warning?
