Telling a Story Vs Showing

This is Part 3 of the story about the time a very kind man helped me when I was a teen and my mother evicted me the first time. But it's a narrative rather than a story. After it is an example of the same story. A story has more details. It shows instead of just tells the reader. For example, you can see the man by his actions. Readers usually prefer a story - not a narrative.
