"What are our standards?" Michelle Obama asked last night. "What is important to us as a nation anymore?" And then she said it: "Because I'm lost."
I wonder how many of us breathe a sigh of relief at knowing that she feels this too? She continued, "There were standards that we tried to uphold because it was bigger than us, It's up to us to find what we're losing."
She said this on Colbert 11/4, followed by Robert Plant whose mystical otherworldliness lifted the tone a bit. Such a difficult time as this needs to know we are not alone and that when we are at our lowest, we can turn in our minds, our imaginations, to something mystical that can help lift us up.*
*I saw him once in person singing "Stairway to Heaven." He said the song came to him in a 'clear bright light' and it seemed light streamed from him as he sang it.
