This morning there's another gun standoff in Milwaukee. One night I thought, At least a child hasn't been shot in their home lately. The next morning the news reported a child killed by a stray bullet through the wall of his home. The VP gun debate seemed irresponsible: the automatic dismissal of automatic weapons with "There are things you can do about it", their repeated statistics citing 'Most gun deaths are suicide'. Come on. Get real about guns.
With so many proud gun-owning representatives, how can we hope to see a curb of mass shootings? Approximately 12,000 people have died of gun violence in the United States this year. As of Sept 5th, there have been more than 385 mass shootings across the US. (CNN,BBC,etc)
Politicians lose votes when they make statements that upset gun owners. It's all a game, but who's winning here in our "Republic if [we] can keep it." (Benjamin Franklin in response to Elizabeth Willing Powel's question, "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a Republic or a Monarchy?")
