Minimum Wages But the Government Is Stopping All Help

I tipped the kid, of course. He probably makes $7 an hour: same as Uber couriers and drivers. I realized this when a darling girl in a pink jumpsuit and nose studs made a delivery a week ago. She couldn't have been more than 19, and the app said she was coming on a bicycle. I wanted to increase her tip, but sometimes Uber's system glitches with tipping. That's when I looked up and realized she only would have earned $7 for looking for, finding, purchasing and delivering a few items to me. This is also what drivers make for 30 minute rides, for which Uber charges customers $20 midday to $40 or more after 3pm. Often after 3pm both Lyft and Uber charge $50 for a 6 mile 9 minute ride. But the driver's wage stays the same $7. There's no way people earning such low wages can keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, much less cover transportation, especially as the current administration is gutting everything that helped the many, many who've been trying to survive. How ironic that Trump was elected to make things better for "the little 'guy.'" And the Coffee, Uber, etc customer, often almost as poor, is supposed to tip enough to make up the difference.
